About Rev. Linda McWhorter

My love for officiating weddings began quite by chance. I was working as Chaplain in hospice in Sacramento, California, presiding over many memorial services in that capacity.

Then, in 2006, I was ordained as a Minister and a hospice coworker asked if I would officiate her wedding. I said, “Yes!” though I was a bit uncertain how to do it. And it turned out to be the most glorious time! It was outdoors, on a gorgeous day, in a blooming rose garden. The love I felt from the couple and their families and closest friends filled my heart and made it SING with joy! I was hooked! The Bride and Groom had grown up in Hawaii, and their ceremony incorporated many Hawaiian cultural elements. I learned so much from that experience!

A few months later I officiated another wedding – also outdoors – at a Buddhist retreat center in northern California. It was absolutely the BEST time, made even more special by the fact that the Bride was my niece, whom I adore. My niece and her fiancé are pagan/wiccan, and their ceremony included many elements of that faith tradition in it.

Thus began my multi-faith, multicultural wedding road trip! It was then I knew that partnering with people to help them celebrate their LOVE at their special life events of weddings, vow renewals, baptisms, quinceaneras, and memorial services is my life’s passion.

Today, eighteen years and 1400 ceremonies later, I am still IN LOVE with celebrating YOUR LOVE your way! My passion is making your LOVE STORY and cultural traditions come alive by weaving them throughout the narrative I will custom-create just for YOU!

I live in Central Texas now, and still love the outdoors. My spouse Sam and I love to kayak and hike the greenbelts around Austin and Killeen/Temple/Waco, try new restaurants and revisit old faves, and have fun with our four furbabies – Luther, Lenny, Larry, and Smokey Lonesome.
